Universally famous for its food, New Orleans definitely has a place about culinary capitals of the world, yet it stands alone as the seat of French Creole cuisine. Myriad cultures combine to render a distinctive style reflecting all, but tasting like no other. Beignets, gumbo, blackened fish, oysters Rockerfeller, shrimp remoulade, bread pudding - such are the dishes that typify area kitches, exemplifying French, Spanish, Caribbean, and African influences and drawing on the riches of the nearby Gulf of Mexico.
